FAQs
No. Firestop does not prevent ignition - it stops fire, smoke and hot gas from spreading beyond the compartment where it started, for the full rated period. That is what buys evacuation time and protects the rest of the asset.
An F rating is the time the seal resists flame passage. A T rating adds a limit on temperature rise on the unexposed side, which matters where combustible material sits close to the penetration.
Yes. Pillow and re-enterable module systems are designed for installations that change - common in substations and data-heavy plant rooms. Sealant and mortar systems can also be reinstated to the same tested detail.
